Ashwini Wagle, Ed.D, MS, RD
Ashwini Wagle, Ed.D, MS, RD is a Professor and the Department Chairperson for the Department of Nutrition, Food Science and Packaging at San Jose State University. She has worked for over twenty years as an educator and also has over ten years of experience as a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) in skilled nursing facilities and acute care hospitals in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is involved with several organizations and serves on the committees for the South Asian Heart Center (SAHC) at El Camino Hospital, California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (CAND), Silicon Valley District of the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (SVD), and Rise Against Hunger.
Her basic areas of interest and research are food and culture, nutritional implications of traditional health beliefs, dietary practices, and food related behaviors for multicultural, immigrant populations especially South Asians, food insecurity and hunger, and foodservice systems.
